Benjamin Moore community restoration program announces grants and product donations to Ottawa community groups

(Ottawa) - The Community Foundation of Ottawa and Benjamin Moore & Co., Limited today are announcing $6,000 in cash grants and over $1,000 in donated Benjamin Moore paint for three local community groups to complete important restoration and renovation projects.

“We’re proud to be part of the 2009 Benjamin Moore Community Restoration Program, which gives charities the materials and expertise they need to refurbish buildings of historical interest or social importance to their community,” says Barbara McInnes, President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Ottawa.

“The restoration program is a great way to make a positive difference in our community by sharing something that we are passionate about – our expertise and our products – with people who are equally committed to the community and its heritage and vitality,” says Richard Tremblay, General Manager, Canadian Central and Eastern Markets, with Benjamin Moore.

The three community groups to receive the grants and donated paint in Ottawa are SAW Video, Tucker House and Winthrop Court Community House. Saw Video will be using the grant and paint donation to refurbish its workshop, while Tucker House will be completing two classrooms in the upstairs of the Tucker House barn, and Winthrop Court will be creating a more exciting, stimulating space in their west-end community house for kids’ programs.

This year, the Benjamin Moore Community Restoration Program, through Community Foundations of Canada (CFC), is extending grants to 33 community groups in 20 communities across Canada, from Kelowna, BC, to Sydney, NS. Projects supported range from restoring a vaudeville theatre to refurbishing program space for an immigrant women’s organization.
