Usha Tamba Dhar

Executive Director and Founder, Sage Youth / Excellence in Literacy Foundation

Usha Tamba Dhar is the founder and Executive Director of two Canadian charities: Sage Youth – Jeunesse Sage (est. 1992) and the Excellence in Literacy Foundation (ELF - est. 2002). Sage Youth provides free literacy and mentoring programs to children in Ottawa from low-income, new Canadian, special needs and homeless communities. The ELF provides literacy materials, training and micro-funding to community organizations serving children from low-income, First Nations, new Canadian, special needs and homeless backgrounds. The ELF has supported over 160 community organizations across Canada as well as three programs in orphanages in Ghana, Lesotho and Thailand. The two charities combined have served over 25,000 children.
